Organizers of the Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival are starting from scratch in an effort to re-invent the event after losing key staff and sponsors: The Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival -- with a $50,000 deficit -- has fired its flamboyant festival director, Carol Coombes. Now, she may be deported. ''Carol is British and in 60 days she might have to leave the country,'' said Harvey Burstein, a festival founder and former board member. Gilbert said the board met all day Saturday and will meet again Sunday to "reinvent the future of the festival.''
''Within the framework of those meetings we approved a fiscally responsible, balanced budget that will allow us to put on our 11th annual film festival,'' he said. The 2009 10-day festival is scheduled to begin April 24. ''We want to start over, with new people to rebuild this festival,'' Gilbert said. "We are analyzing and critiquing every facet of this festival, to make sure we are doing it as cost efficiently and as well as we can.'' The festival, which this year added a weekend in Fort Lauderdale, took a big hit last spring when three major sponsors -- Avis Rent-a-Car, Sundance Channel and Flamingo South Beach condos -- suddenly backed out.

Celebrating Haulover Beach's 17th year as a nude beach, devotees reminisced about their naked fun. The party continues on Sunday.

No one at a Haulover Beach party on Saturday seemed embarrassed that nearly everyone showed up in the same outfit -- their birthday suit. The party was on Day 2 of a three-part celebration of the 17th anniversary of Haulover's establishment as a ''clothing-optional'' stretch of sand. It also marks a belated observance of National Nude Recreation Week. Festivities continue Sunday. The activists who worked to get Miami-Dade County to allow them to swim without swimsuits were out in force to mark the occasion.

Truth is that most people naked on a nude beach are males with exhibitionist fetishes. I go... because I want a tan to wear a dress. The men at Haulover are nasty. The mean age is like 50 and they strut back and forth most disgustingly in front of little girls. I am not saying all nudists are perves, but you do not see many totally naked women there and the "joy" of nudity in the hot Florida summer sun is hardly a healthy thing. I always get hit on there as well which is another sign of the perversion! It seems to be a running theme as any nude beach I have been to women are perhaps topless while men are naked, middle aged and strutting about like everyone wants to see them. My honest point, naturist resorts are for naturists, nude beaches, unless part of the naturist resort, are for old perves. ...the men strut about and are usually old and shriveled all over, the girls rarely are nude while the teen boys are encouraged by their parents to go au natural. Often from what I have seen to great discomfort. I happen to agree with Brazilian rules---no unaccompanied men and if the man is naked the woman has to be. It is no different than a swingers club only nobody is openly having sex. I have perhaps seen two or three decent nude beaches mostly in NL and DK where nudity is NOT an issue and as many women as men, boys as girls feel comfortable being nude. Trying to sell mayonnaise has turned messy for Heinz, the U.S. food giant that has found itself in a public relations pickle as pro-family and homosexual organizations both are threatening boycotts. The controversy is over a British television advert that appeared to use mayonnaise as spread for the homosexual agenda. As part of an advertising campaign for its Heinz Deli Mayo in the United Kingdom, a Heinz advertisement features a brawny New York deli man making sandwiches for two children going off to school. The children call him "mum," and just before the "father" of the family goes off to work the two men exchange a kiss. The deli man then says in his thick New York accent, "Love ya! Straight home from work, sweet cheeks."
Heinz pulled the ad June 20 after more than 200 complaints were submitted to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), in which viewers complained the ad was "offensive" and "unsuitable to be seen by children." The ASA will decide in a few days whether or not to launch an investigation. Heinz UK explained that the ad was supposed to be a funny twist on the traditional mother preparing packed lunches for her children and husband. In this case, Heinz explained that the point was that its New York Deli Mayo was so authentic that "mum" becomes as good as a real New York delicatessen man.
Nevertheless the American Family Association in a June 24 action alert told its members to spread the word that Heinz was pushing homosexual "marriage," since the ad -- without any varnished explanations -- appeared to feature a "homosexual family" with two homosexuals kissing. The AFA encouraged its members to voice their protest with Heinz to make sure that the food giant did not try the same thing in North America. The AFA stated, "It is the kind of ad which we can expect to see in California as they prepare to vote on homosexual marriage."

Your dollars for Happy Meals and Big Macs could end up paying for sex-change operations of McDonald's employees if the home of the Golden Arches continues its promotion of homosexuality, according to a pro-family group that has joined an expanding boycott of the fast-food restaurants and its Ronald McDonald's mascot. "If McDonald's restaurants and franchises… follow the small business advice of the company's new homosexual partner – the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC), which received a $20,000 grant from McDonald's – there would be chaos," said Peter LaBarbera, chief of Americans for Truth.
His was one of several groups, also including the Culture Campaign, Liberty Counsel, the American Family Association of Pennsylvania and the Illinois Family Institute, that held a news conference at the Chicago headquarters of the fast-food chain to join with a boycott call issued originally by the American Family Association. LaBarbera told WND that the agenda supported by the NGLCC is pretty extreme. It recommends, for example, companies should "permit the [transsexual/cross-dressing] transitioning employee to use restrooms that correspond to his or her full-time gender presentation, regardless of where the individual is in the transitioning process."
"In other words, if a 'transgender man' or, say, employee at a McDonald's believes his supposed 'gender' is really a woman, so he wears a dress and high heels, he should be able to use the female restroom. That surely would do wonders for the productivity and workplace environment of female employees and customers at a small business, including all those local McDonald's franchises!" LaBarbera said. He said other advice from NGLCC would include:
* Use politically correct, 'inclusive' language: 'Ensure that invitations to company events use terms like partner or significant other rather than spouse.'
* Provide 'adoption assistance' for homosexual 'domestic partners' – thus the corporate world helps create households for children that are intentionally fatherless or motherless.
* Providing health care coverage to transsexual employees for so-called 'medically necessary surgical procedures' – will your Quarter-Pounder purchase help subsidize 'sex-change' operations for gender-confused men?
The news conference was at the McDonald's restaurant adjacent to McDonald's world headquarters, but LaBarbera said the Chicago media, with one exception, ignored the issue totally. "Chicago's CBS TV affiliate fields a float every year at the city's bawdy homosexual 'pride' parade, but CBS and other major Chicago secular media were no-shows at AFTAH's pro-family coalition press conference," he said. "Predictably, I suppose, we were completely blacked out by Chicago's and Illinois’ major media – which had no excuse since they were inundated with press releases about the event by four pro-family organizations," LaBarbera said.
"Unfortunately, McDonalds has chosen to side with militant homosexual activists over people with traditional values," said Matt Barber, of Liberty Counsel. "The company has further escalated the controversy by lodging a personal attack against the tens of millions of Americans who support traditional sexual morality and legitimate marriage. While referring to Christians and other people with traditional values, McDonald's spokesman Bill Whitman arrogantly told the Washington Post that, 'Hatred has no place in our culture,' thereby suggesting that people who support the historical definition of marriage are simply motivated by 'hate.' This insult is highly offensive, and anyone who supports traditional marriage should boycott McDonalds and tell the company why they’re doing so."
"It's a shame that McDonald's would tarnish their family-friendly image," said AFA Chairman Don Wildmon. "But the company has ramped up its support of the gay agenda and it leaves us no option but to call for a boycott." The pro-family groups are encouraging families to do two things: sign, print and distribute a Boycott McDonald's petition at www.boycottmcdonalds.com; and call the local McDonald's to politely tell the manager they are boycotting the chain until it stops promoting the "gay" agenda.
