Violence-Inducing Prescription Drugs

Mass Shootings: Mental Illness or Demon Possession?

...there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains: Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him. And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.

...And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.

...And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine (Mark 5:1-16).

The Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP) recently published a study in the journal "PLoS One" highlighting the worst prescription drug offenders that cause patients to become violent. Among the top-ten most dangerous are the antidepressants Pristiq (desvenlafaxine), Paxil (paroxetine) and Prozac (fluoxetine). Concerns about the extreme negative side effects of many popular antidepressant and antipsychotic drugs have been on the rise, as these drugs not only cause severe health problems to users, but also pose a significant threat to society. The ISMP report indicates that, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) Adverse Event Reporting System, many popular drugs are linked even to homicides.

Most of the drugs in the top ten most dangerous are antidepressants, but also included are an insomnia medication, an attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) drug, a malaria drug and an anti-smoking medication. As reported in Time, the top ten list is as follows:

10. Desvenlafaxine (Pristiq) - An antidepressant that affects serotonin and noradrenaline. The drug is 7.9 times more likely to be associated with violence than other drugs.

9. Venlafaxine (Effexor) - An antidepressant that treats anxiety disorders. The drug is 8.3 times more likely to be associated with violence than other drugs.

8. Fluvoxamine (Luvox) - A selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) drug that is 8.4 times more likely to be associated with violence than other drugs.

7. Triazolam (Halcion) - A benzodiazepine drug for insomnia that is 8.7 times more likely to be associated with violence than other drugs.

6. Atomoxetine (Strattera) - An ADHD drug that is 9 times more likely to be associated with violence than other drugs.

5. Mefoquine (Lariam) - A malaria drug that is 9.5 times more likely to be associated with violence than other drugs.

4. Amphetamines - This general class of ADHD drug is 9.6 times more likely to be associated with violence than other drugs.

3. Paroxetine (Paxil) - An SSRI antidepressant drug that is 10.3 times more likely to be associated with violence than other drugs. It is also linked to severe withdrawal symptoms and birth defects.

2. Fluoxetine (Prozac) - A popular SSRI antidepressant drug that is 10.9 times more likely to be associated with violence than other drugs.

1. Varenicline (Chantix) - An anti-smoking drug that is a shocking 18 times more likely to be associated with violence than other drugs.

Mass Shootings and Mental Illness

CBS News

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/01/13/eveningnews/main7244093.shtml?tag=strip

Despite allegations that the suspected Tucson shooter Jared Loughner was mentally ill, it is still unclear the role it played in the deadly rampage. Katie Couric reports on the latest of mental health laws in the U.S. The events in Tucson left many of us asking - How could this happen? But we've seen this before - an unstable man, a senseless attack. It's put a spotlight on mental illness. In this country, 45 million adults are mentally ill. 11 million of those cases are considered serious. CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric reports on how those who need help most are falling through the cracks.

"Oftentimes, when we have tragedies like this people will say there were no warning signs," CBS News correspondent Ben Tracy said. "Well, in the case of Jared Lee Loughner there were plenty of warning signs." "Loughner would laugh to himself at inappropriate times," Tracy said. "He would clench his fists and make faces just out of nowhere." (these are clear signs of demon possession)  It is still unclear how big a role mental illness played in Jared Loughner's shooting rampage. "When you look back on it now, you say, oh, he was disturbed, he was unbalanced," Tracey said.  One of Loughner's former classmates said that he was nice to Loughner, in case he shot people.  Tracy added, "But there's big leap from a guy in your class who you find creepy to a guy who shows up and starts killing people indiscriminately."

Hauntingly Parallel: "When he showed up on Saturday with a semi-automatic pistol and an extended clip, that was the first time the public knew anything about the threat and a that time, it was really too late," CBS News Justice and Homeland Security Correspondent Bob Orr said. The Tucson shooting is the latest tragedy linked to a gunman believed to be mentally ill. In 1993, Colin Ferguson killed six commuters on a New York Train. In 1998, Russell Weston killed two at the U.S. Capitol. In 2007, Seung-Hui Cho murdered 32 people at Virginia Tech. "The two cases are hauntingly parallel," Orr said. "Cho was a chilling character when you saw the pictures at Virginia Tech where he was posing with the guns. I had the same kind of flash back to that when I saw the mug shot of Jared lee Loughner. Their actions can't be defended in any way but, was enough done ahead of time to try and short circuit that danger and to help the individual? And in Loughner's case the answer seems to be no."

Connecting the Dots: "In retrospect it's easy to connect the dots," Dr. E. Fuller Torrey, psychiatrist and founder of the Treatment Advocacy Center said. "If anyone could have put those all together it would have been pretty clear what should have happened." Loughner slipped through the cracks in a society and health system that still fails to help people with serious mental illness. Nearly half of those who should be treated are not. "We are doing a miserable job," Torrey said. "The public should be concerned about what a poor job we do in treating these people and what we are looking at in Arizona is only one of the consequences." For every 100 American adults, 20 have some form of mental illness. Five have disorders classified as severe. They rarely pose a danger. But those odds increase without proper treatment. "I am the mother of an adult who has been diagnosed with sychizoaffective disorder," Karen Gormandy said. "Because he was an adult, the only way he could have gotten treatment is if the police came and took him away in handcuffs (...there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit ...he had been often bound with fetters and chains). And that was it."

Privacy issues, access to treatment and the stigma of mental illness are major barriers for families and friends looking to intervene. "They are afraid to report somebody because people are afraid they are going to ruin their lives," CBS News medical correspondent Dr. Jon LaPook said. "Also, there's some fear maybe the person will come back and do something to them." 25 states will not allow a person to be involuntarily committed unless he or she is in obvious danger, or they are not getting their basic needs met. "The disease itself carries with it a lack of insight and denial," LaPook said. "So people say I'm perfectly fine I'm not going to get help. That's part of the disease. If you have high blood pressure and I say take this pill you're probably going got do it. But if you have schizophrenia (another sign of demon possession) you may say what you mean I am perfectly fine."

Privacy laws can also conceal patterns of alarming behavior. "Personal rights are very important we protect people's civil liberties in this country," Torrey said. "But we protect them so well for many of these people who are severely mentally ill and don't know they're mentally ill - we're simply protecting their rights to be homeless, on the streets or in jail. We are protecting their right to be sick." "Some states actually protect mental health records even more aggressively than records involving someone's physical health," CBS News chief legal correspondent Jan Crawford said. "We want to encourage people to seek treatment -- without being afraid that it's going to be used against them or disclosed to authorities at some point." Mental health funding has been declining for decades. Since 2009, states have cut more than $2 billion for mental health from their budgets. "Each, single part of the way where we fail somebody - we're all responsible," Karen Gormandy said. "I think we fail people with mental illnesses. We give up on them because it's just too hard."

Sounding the Alarm: "I've gone through Columbine. I went through Virginia Tech - I've gone through some horrible, horrible shootings. No I'm never shocked anymore," said Rep. Carolyn McCarthy. Her husband was killed when he was shot on the Long Island Railroad by Colin Ferguson - who was paranoid and delusional (signs of demon possession). "He just started shooting," McCarthy said. "And my husband was shot in the head. He died instantly." Now another man, who appears to be mentally ill, has gunned down her colleague. There is a growing movement to compel the mentally ill to get treatment. In New York, family members can petition the court to force a patient to take medication. But doctors and mental health advocates worry change won't come fast enough to prevent the next tragedy. "Right now we need to have a much better system to sound the alarm," Dr. LaPook said. "Until that happens we are going to keep seeing these and if anything they are going to increase in frequency," Dr. Torrey said. Research show with proper treatment and medication, people with severe mental illness are no more likely to commit crimes than others.

School Violence

School Violence

By The Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR)

http://www.cchrbuffalo.org/school.htm

Could the rise in school violence be due to the prescription drugs prescribed for depression and mental health disorders - the same drugs that the FDA says can cause violence, suicide and suicidal thoughts (induced by unclean spirits). Mental health screening, like Teen Screen, would insure more of our children are labeled and put on these medications. In the wake of (the) shooting rampage at Virginia Tech by gunman Cho Seung-Hui, state legislators, civic and human rights activists are asking why Congress has failed to investigate the link between psychiatric drugs and school violence, given the high rate of psychiatric drug use by the shooters. According to breaking news from investigators at Virginia Tech, Cho may have taken depression drugs --documented by the Food and Drug Administration to cause suicidal behavior, mania, psychosis, hallucinations, hostility and "homicidal ideation." (all signs of demon possession).

In September, 2005, following the Red Lake Indian Reservation shootings, the National Foundation of Women Legislators, together with American Indian tribal leaders, called for a Congressional investigation into the correlation between psychiatric drug use and school massacres, given the high rate of psychiatric drug use by the shooters. Congress has yet to investigate the psychiatric drug link to these senseless acts of violence despite international warnings that the drugs can cause manic and homicidal behavior.  The Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR), a mental health watchdog that initially discovered the psychiatric drug connection in the Columbine shootings, warns that the psycho-pharmaceutical industry will once again try to obscure the violence-inducing nature of psychiatric drugs in order to protect the billions in profit from drug sales. CCHR says that Congress must demand a full investigation into the link between senseless acts of violence and psychiatric drug use in the wake of recent FDA warnings on the documented drug risks.

Resulting in 54 Killed And 105 Wounded

School shootings committed by individuals under the influence of psychiatric drugs include:

   * Dekalb, Illinois – February 14, 2008: 27-year-old Steven Kazmierczak shot and killed five people and wounded 16 others before killing himself in a Northern Illinois University auditorium. According to his girlfriend, he had recently been taking Prozac, Xanax and Ambien. Toxicology results showed that he still had trace amount of Xanax in his system.

   * Omaha, Nebraska – December 5, 2007: 19-year-old Robert Hawkins killed eight people and wounded five before committing suicide in an Omaha mall. Hawkins’ friend told CNN that the gunman was on antidepressants, and autopsy results confirmed he was under the influence of the “anti-anxiety” drug Valium.

   * Jokela, Finland – November 7, 2007: 18-year-old Finnish gunman Pekka-Eric Auvinen had been taking antidepressants before he killed eight people and wounded a dozen more at Jokela High School in southern Finland, then committed suicide.

   * Cleveland, Ohio – October 10, 2007: 14-year-old Asa Coon stormed through his school with a gun in each hand, shooting and wounding four before taking his own life. Court records show Coon had been placed on the antidepressant Trazodone.

   * Blacksburg, Virginia – April 16, 2007: The psychiatric drug history of Seung-Hui Cho in the Virginia Tech Massacre was never made public. Initial reports stated that “depression medication” was found among Cho’s belongings. But neither his toxicology reports, nor his recent medical history were ever released to find out whether Cho had been in withdrawal from psychiatric medication. (33 were killed and 29 injured, but this was not included in the total of dead and wounded cited above.)

   * Red Lake, Minnesota – March 2005: 16-year-old Jeff Weise, on Prozac, shot and killed his grandparents, then went to his school on the Red Lake Indian Reservation where he shot dead 7 students and a teacher, and wounded 7 before killing himself.

   * Greenbush, New York – February 2004: 16-year-old Jon Romano strolled into his high school in east Greenbush and opened fire with a shotgun. Special education teacher Michael Bennett was hit in the leg. Romano had been taking “medication for depression.”

   * El Cajon, California – March 22, 2001: 18-year-old Jason Hoffman, on the antidepressants Celexa and Effexor, opened fire on his classmates, wounding three students and two teachers at Granite Hills High School.

   * Williamsport, Pennsylvania – March 7, 2000: 14-year-old Elizabeth Bush was taking the antidepressant Prozac when she shot at fellow students, wounding one.

PHARMAKEIA: Drugs and Sorcery at the End of the Age

By A. Herstad

http://home.netcom.com/~horse/sorcery.html

Most of us, when asked for Biblical signs warning of the nearness of the last days will mention Israel, or perhaps the Global Economy. Some will mention the famines, earthquakes and diseases; the "wars and rumors of wars" that sweep our planet. Few, however, will think to mention DRUGS, SORCERY and religious DECEPTION as significant of the end times. Even though these are foreshadowed in Scripture, they are only brought to notice through careful study with a Bible in one hand and newspaper in the other.

The worldwide spread of psychedelic (Peyote, LSD), narcotic (heroin), and hypnotic (hashish) drugs (not to mention psychiatric drugs) fulfills the prophetic scriptures as one of two forms of SORCERY that would lead the nations into rejection of Christ, and bring them into their final destruction as slaves of the Man of Sin, the Antichrist, under a New World Order at the end of the age. (Drugs) produce an ALTERED STATE OF CONSCIOUSNESS that leaves the user open to hypnotic, and therefore demonic suggestion. God forbids his people to engage in "enchantment" (hypnosis) and witchcraft (sorcery).

Jesus warned us in Matthew 24 of these things that would mark the last days before his second coming. Of religious DECEPTION, he says:  For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. (Matt 24:24). This verse is one of five or six times the Bible mentions MIRACLES in connection with DECEPTION in the last days. The fate of those who are so deceived is shown in Matthew 7:21-23 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. The means of this deception looks religious and perhaps even doctrinally plausible, but the methods of performing miracles is NOT.

There is, in addition to false doctrine, a visible, hands-on method by which the nations are being deceived and led into Hell. That method is SORCERY. The New Testament mentions TWO (methods) of sorcery: MAGIC (In Greek, "mageia") and DRUGS (In Greek, "pharmakeia"). The following is a Biblical example of MAGIC being used to lead others astray: But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one: To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God. And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries (Acts 9:9-11). The Greek word for "magic" is listed in Strong's Dictionary:  Strong's # 3095: mageia (mag-i'-ah); from 3096; "magic": sorcery.

PHARMAKEIA (sorcery, witchcraft): Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,  Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God (Gal 5:19-21). The Greek word here used for "witchcraft" is: Strong's # 5331: pharmakeia (far-mak-i'-ah); from 5332; medication ("pharmacy"), i.e. -- sorcery, witchcraft. Vine's Dictionary brings this into perspective. SORCERY: "Pharmakeia" (Eng., pharmacy etc.) primarily signified the use of medicine, DRUGS, SPELLS; then, POISONING; then, SORCERY, "sorcery" "witchcraft", mentioned as one of "the works of the flesh." See also Rev. 9:21; 18:23.

"In sorcery, the use of DRUGS, whether simple or potent, was generally accompanied by INCANTATIONS and appeals to OCCULT powers, with the provision of various charms, amulets, etc., professedly designed to keep the applicant or patient from the attention and power of demons, but actually to impress the applicant with the mysterious resources and powers of the sorcerer." (The opposite occurred opening the mind and spirit to devils and unclean spirits). The person who uses ANY of these pharmaceuticals is giving himself over to the will of another--that chief Sorcerer himself--Satan, the enemy of our souls. Christ died to save us from slavery of sin, from the power of Satan and the penalty of hell.  The Bible further warns those who don't believe in Jesus Christ, persisting in their rejection of Christ, a strong delusion will come upon them after the Rapture (see II  Thess. 2), and they will enter the Tribulation.

Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts (Rev 9:21).

And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived (Rev 18:23).
