Zion, The Apple of God’s Eye

Ho, ho, come forth, and flee from the land of the north, saith the LORD: for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heaven, saith the LORD. Deliver thyself, O Zion, that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon. For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye. Zechariah 2:6-8

(IsraelNN.com) A German youth said police broke into his and his girl friend's apartment to remove a Jewish flag in order to calm screaming Muslim protesters. "Today, 10,000 people demonstrated against Israel here in my hometown of Duisburg and to express their solidarity with Hamas," said the writer in his report, originally posted on the Muqata blog site.

He said he and his friend responded by placing two large Israel flags in the windows of their third floor apartment. "During the demonstration, which went through our street, the police broke into our flat and removed the flag of Israel," he wrote. "The statement of the police was to de-escalate the situation because many youth demonstrators were on the brink of breaking into our apartment house. "Before this they threw snowballs, knives and stones against our windows and the complete building.

We both were standing on the other side of the street and were shocked by seeing a police officer standing in our bedroom and opening the window to get the flag…. The police acquiesced in the demands of the mob." The mob cheered and applauded when the Israeli flag was whisked away. The Arabic-language satellite network Al Jazeera reported that many of the demonstrators were from the Turkish community.

Hundreds of thousands of others protested throughout the world against Israel's counterterrorist campaign and burned dozens of Israeli and American flags. A crowd in London was estimated at 100,000, and tens of thousands in Paris chanted, "We are all Palestinians." A Toronto pro-Hamas demonstrator screamed at pro-Israel supporters, "I want the war to continue because I want Hizbullah to wipe the state of terrorism off the planet....You're being wiped off the planet! That's a promise." Muslims in Denmark chanted, "Down, down Israel, down, down USA, down, down democracy, down, down Denmark." One Muslim executed the Nazi salute and shouted, "We want to kill all the Jews, all the Jews should be slain, they have no right to exist!"

(IsraelNN.com) The Chicago Jewish community was attacked in a number of different locations over the Sabbath, with vandals destroying property and defacing five synagogues and Jewish schools in the city. Five Chicago synagogues and Jewish schools were attacked. Unidentified men were caught on security video tapes Saturday, breaking windows and writing "Death to Israel" in orange spray paint at several locations. At the Chabad-Lubavitch Mesivta (high school) in Chicago, security cameras caught two men at approximately 4:40 a.m. vandalizing the building. One spray-painted the side of the building while the other hurled rocks at the front door. Less than two hours later, at 6:10 a.m. the caretaker of Lincolnwood Jewish Congregation awoke to the sound of breaking glass. He ran to the front of the synagogue and saw two men fleeing the scene. The vandals had also scrawled "Death to Israel" and "Free Palestine" on the walls of the building.

Similar acts of vandalism occurred the same night at Congregation Anshe Motele, Hana Sacks Girls' High School, and the Young Israel Synagogue of West Rogers Park. Chicago police are investigating the crimes. In addition, they have contacted the U.S. Joint Terrorism Task Force of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to help with the probe. Chicago has been the focus of other anti-Semitic attacks this month as well. Barely a week ago, the Ida Crown Jewish Academy received a bomb threat in the mail, threatening other Chicago area Jewish schools as well. In addition, on December 29th, a man hurled a firebomb at Temple Sholom, also in the same area.

Zahar Claims Victory, Calls to Kill Jewish Children

(IsraelNN.com) Hamas spokesman Mahmoud Az-Zahar claimed victory for Hamas on Monday with calls to kill Jewish children, saying Hamas had succeeded in “destroying Israel's sense of security” with its rocket attacks. Zahar made his proclamation in video footage sent from a secret hideout, where he is taking shelter in order to avoid being targeted in an IAF strike. Other Hamas leaders have gone into hiding as well.

Zahar directed his message to Hamas' troops, and promised them victory over the IDF. “We must be patient until we are victorious, Allah will help us,” he said. Hundreds of Hamas terrorists have been killed since the “Cast Lead” operation began last week, including 100 since the start of Israel's ground operation, and several of the group's senior leaders have been assassinated. Dozens have been taken prisoner as well.

The Few Against The Many: Canadian Protestors Clash Over Israel

The Few against the Many: Canadian Protestors Clash over Israel

(IsraelNN.com) Forty pro-Israel demonstrators opposite the Israel Consulate in Toronto yelled back at more than 700 pro-Arabs protesting Israel’s military operations in Gaza Sunday afternoon. Khaled Mouammar, president of the Canadian Arab Federation (CAF), stated, “The massacre taking place in Gaza must stop. People are suffering and dying. There is an actual genocide taking place.” The CAF president has previously gone on record demanding that Canada boycott "the Apartheid State" and that his government should not criticize Hizbullah terrorists. Police were busy keeping the groups from attacking each other. Other than minor scuffles, there were no incidents of violence between the groups. Additional pro-Arab demonstrations took place throughout Canada.

The Toronto pro-Arab organizers called on the Canadian government to condemn Israel’s actions. While Canada’s Foreign Minister Lawrence Cannon has expressed concern about the escalating violence, he has nevertheless stated that Israel has the right to defend itself.  Harris Leusher, one of the pro-Israel demonstrators, stated that Israel’s attacks on Hamas in Gaza are justified. “You can’t fire 50 rockets a day continuously year after year and not expect something to happen,” the demonstrator stated while waving an Israeli flag. “If the United States launched rockets from Detroit into Windsor [a Canadian city] every day that hit schools and playgrounds, wouldn’t Canada have the right to do something?”

The Hamas leader called to murder Israelis and Jews worldwide, including children. “The Israelis have sentenced their children to death... They have legitimized the killing of their people all over the world,” he said. Hamas' platform calls for all Jews to convert to Islam or be killed, based on an Islamic saying (Hadith), and the group has not refrained from targeting children in the past. Hamas will destroy synagogues and Jewish schools as well, Zahar said, just as Israel destroyed mosques in Gaza. Israel bombed several mosques used to store rockets and ammunition. Zahar suggested Hamas was prepared to seek a ceasefire, saying Hamas would discuss “whatever is good for our people.” He issued a list of demands, saying any ceasefire must include a complete end to IDF counterterrorism activities, Hamas control of the Gaza coast and the opening of Israeli crossings. Israel has not offered Hamas a ceasefire, and Prime Minister Ehud Olmert recently said operations in Gaza would continue “until we achieve our goals.

I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom. Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces (Dan. 7:21-23).
