SCRIPTURES

The Gospel is the good news of God's plan of salvation for mankind in our age. I Corinthians 15:1-4 states exactly what the Gospel is.

MOREOVER, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures...

The Gospel is the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ for the payment of our sins, the burial of Jesus for the burial of our sins, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ for our victory over sin. The Gospel is the good news that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day from the dead.  The sacrificial work of Jesus Christ on the cross is the payment for our sins. It is free and no one has to work for salvation because the good news is that Jesus Christ is the only payment for sin that is acceptable to God for salvation. The gospel is the good news that a person can receive salvation from dying in their sins and going to hell. This salvation is FREE through the sacrificial work of Jesus Christ on the cross.

The gospel is not social justice. The gospel is not the sacraments. The gospel is not working your way to heaven in order to be just before God. The gospel is not works + faith. The gospel is not a religion. The gospel is not baptism.
