Asean Chiefs Seek to Broaden Summit With U.S., Russia

     Asean may invite the U.S. and Russia to a summit of Asia’s largest economies in October as members struggle to forge an effective economic partnership. “Our thought is to look at the East Asia Summit composition, whether to bring in Russia and the United States,” Marty Natalegawa, Indonesia’s foreign minister, said in an interview today. “Asean is back to where it should be in terms of taking the lead.” The 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations’ success at engaging the world’s biggest economies may boost investment to the region of about 600 million people. Asean already meets yearly with the leaders of China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, India and New Zealand.

   “Asean is not necessarily the star in Asia, but it will have more power if it can host the party,” said Simon Tay, chairman of the Singapore Institute of International Affairs. “Whether Asean has the strength to do that is an open question.” Foreign direct investment into Asean fell 13 percent to $60.1 billion in 2008, the latest year statistics are available, according to the group’s official statistics. China

attracted a record $92.4 billion in the same year, excluding the financial sector. While Asean seeks to expand its global influence, it’s struggling to outline its goal to form a European Union-style group by 2015. Detailing the “road map” for that plan was a stated objective of the two-day summit concluding today in Hanoi.


     Sinking In: “It’s sinking in that we have just five years before we are supposed to have this community,” Natalegawa said. Asean’s member states, which are home to some of Asia’s youngest populations, include Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The group has faced setbacks to uniting that include international condemnation of Myanmar’s junta and turmoil in Thailand. Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva scrapped plans to attend the meeting in Hanoi yesterday after he declared a state of emergency in the capital city of Bangkok on April 7. Some delegates last year were evacuated by helicopter amid anti-government protests at a canceled summit in Pattaya, Thailand.


     Bigger Picture: “Despite all the political and bilateral problems we may have within Asean, it should not stop us from looking at the bigger picture to continue engaging the world’s superpowers such as the Americans and the Russians,” Ong Keng Yong, former secretary-general of Asean, said by phone. “Every country has its own domestic issues but we must still continue our work on the broader front to build relations with the biggest economies.” Asean leaders have said they’re pushing this year to define rules, procedures and dispute-settling mechanisms for their group. Foreign ministers from the bloc signed what they termed a “protocol” on settling disputes among members yesterday, without providing details.

 

     Myanmar, which plans to hold national elections later this year, has also dominated discussions at the conference. The elections, the first held since 1990, should be “fair and democratic with the participation of all parties,” Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said at the summit’s close. Vietnam, which chairs Asean this year, has faced scrutiny from groups such as Human Rights Watch for its own crackdown on dissent. The communist country has jailed more than a dozen democracy activists since October.

     The Purpose of AMU and AMU Deviation Indicators1 for East Asian Currencies: The monetary authorities of East Asian countries have been strengthening their regional monetary cooperation since the Asian currency crisis of 1997. This monetary cooperation after the crisis resulted in the Chiang Mai Initiative (CMI), which was established by the ASEAN + 3 (Japan, South Korea, and China) as a network of bilateral and multilateral swap arrangements to deal with a currency crisis in member countries. Under the CMI, the monetary authorities should conduct surveillance to prevent a currency crisis in the future.

 

     As one of the new surveillance criteria, we propose the creation of an Asian Monetary Unit (AMU) and AMU Deviation Indicators for East Asian currencies. These should contribute to coordinated exchange rate policies in East Asia, thereby enhancing the monetary authorities' surveillance capabilities. We calculate the AMU as a weighted average of East Asian currencies according to the method used to calculate the European Currency Unit (ECU) adopted by EU countries under the European Monetary System (EMS) prior to the introduction of the euro. The AMU Deviation Indicators for each East Asian currency are measured to show the degree of deviation from the Benchmark Rate for each of the East Asian currencies in terms of the AMU.

 

     We provide Nominal AMU Deviation Indicators on a daily basis and Real AMU Deviation Indicators, which are adjusted for differences in inflation, on a monthly basis. The Real AMU Deviation Indicators are more appropriate for conducting surveillance on the effects of changes in exchange rates on the real economy, while the Nominal AMU Deviation Indicators are more useful for monitoring their day-to-day deviations from the AMU. Data Revision with the introduction of an automated AMU calculation process. Changes were made in January 2009 to automate the AMU calculation process. As part of this system change, the following new calculation rules were adopted:

 

 

     Calculating the Value of the AMU: We choose the ASEAN10+3 currencies as the component currencies of the AMU. The ASEAN10+3 is composed of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, and China. We calculate the AMU according to the method used to calculate the ECU under the EMS prior to the introduction of the euro in 1999. In the same way that the ECU was defined as a basket of currencies of EU member countries, the AMU is defined as a basket currency of the ASEAN10+3 countries.

 

     The weight of each currency in the basket is based on both the countries' respective shares of GDP measured at Purchasing Power Parity (PPP), and trade volumes (the sum of exports and imports) in the total of sampled countries for the relevant country. We calculate the countries' shares of GDP measured at PPP and their trade volumes for the most recent three years average as the currency shares of the AMU (the current version is based on 2005-2007). The average for the most recent three years for which data is available is used to calculate the currency shares in order to reflect the most recent trade relationships and economic conditions of the 13 East Asian countries for calculation of the AMU.

 

     We should quote the value of the AMU in terms of a weighted average of the US dollar and the euro because both the United States and EU countries are important trading partners for East Asia. The weighted average of the US dollar and the euro (hereafter, US$-euro) is based on the East Asian countries' trade volumes with the United States and the euro area. The weights on the US dollar and the euro are set at 65% and 35%, respectively.

     NAFTA was sold to the American public as a brilliant economic plan. Very few people realize that they have just witnessed Biblical prophecy occurring before their unsuspecting eye. "Executive approval: Survey of American, Mexican, and Canadian executives show they feel the North American Free Trade Agreement has been successful in improving trade and logistics.      Daniel 7:7-8, remembering that Daniel is talking here of the End of the Age. Consider the Scripture: "After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly ...and it had 10 horns. I considered the horns and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first plucked up by the roots..." These 10 horns are further explained in Daniel 2:41 and Revelation 17:12.

 

     These prophecies are quite clear in predicting that the world in the last days of time, during the Great Tribulation will be reorganized into 10 Super Nation States, or 10 Regions. This is a shocking revelation, since the world has been controlled by individual sovereign nations since the Tower of Babel 5,000 years ago. Today, there are over 170 sovereign nations in the world today. A new governmental structure is being silently erected over these 170+ sovereign nations. Before our very eyes, a new government is being erected; this plan, originally published in 1974 in "Mankind At The Turning Point," is being implemented. And when it is finally implemented, it will fulfill this Biblical prophecy of 10 Nations at the End of the Age.

 

     The North American Union (NAU) is not simply an economic super nation; rather, it is one of the ten kingdoms of the anti-Christ.  In the 20th Century, nearly every President, both Democratic and Republican, has secretly supported the Plan for The New World Order. It has not mattered whom we have elected, because both political parties are united in this drive to accomplish this Plan. Generally, Republican Presidents have concentrated on changes in the Foreign Policy field, while Democratic Presidents have concentrated on the needed changes in Domestic Policy. But, whether we have a Republican or Democratic President, the New World Order Plan continues unabated. NAFTA is one example of a Foreign Policy change initiated by a Republican President and continued by a Democratic President.

 

     Consider how privileged you have been to have seen fulfillment of Biblical prophecy that is 2,500 years old, fulfilled before your eyes, even though you had no idea at the time the significance of what was happening. This is but one example of Biblical prophecy being fulfilled by this Plan for the New World Order. Biblical prophecy states, in Revelation 17:12, that this reorganization will occur as the result of a conspiracy amongst the 10 rulers, for the express purpose of handing their newly acquired authority over to the Antichrist. Consider the exact wording, "And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast (Antichrist is the "beast"). These [rulers] have one common policy and they deliver their power and authority to the beast."

 

     So, the Bible states that the one purpose of reorganizing the world into 10 Super Nations is to hand their authority over to the Antichrist. And, what does the New World Order Plan state is their purpose in achieving this New World Order? To deliver their authority to The New Age Christ, whom many authors call "Maitreya The Christ" ("The Reappearance Of The Christ", Alice A. Bailey, Lucis Press, New York, 1948, p. 5-35; also "The Externalisation Of The Hierarchy", Alice A. Bailey, Lucis Press, 1957, p. 556-557; also "Revelation: The Birth Of The New Age," David Spangler, The Rainbow Bridge Publishers, San Francisco, 1976, p. 156-157). But, other writers are so bold as to call him "Antichrist." Can you imagine that these authors should be so bold as to call their Superman, Antichrist? But, they do, and often. ("The Armageddon Script," Peter Lemesurier, St. Martin's Press, New York, 1981, p. 239-241; also, "Herald Of The New Age," Ruth Montgomery, Fawcett Crest, New York, 1986, p. 200-201).

 

     You cannot ignore the existence of this huge body of writings, which plan in such detail as to how to reorganize the world so the Christ, or Antichrist, can appear to take control. The last man to arise to power, thinking he was the Antichrist, was Adolf Hitler. Hitler's vision of the world was that Germany would forcibly unite the world under his leadership; and, just as Jesus Christ will rule for 1,000 years, so Hitler had his counterfeit plan, which he called the 1,000-year Reich. And, Hitler called his plan, The New World Order.

 

     The one key point I wish to make is that this prophecy in Daniel 7:7-8, is that it declares that, once the 10 Nations have arisen, Antichrist will appear. Consider the Scripture again: "After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly ...and it had 10 horns. I considered the horns and, behold, there came up among them another little horn... "The Antichrist is called "another little horn" in this Scripture. The next prophetic event after the formation of the 10 Super Nations is the appearance of the Antichrist!! Please understand that this formation of all the world's nations into only 10 Super Nations is unprecedented in all of world history.

 

     Never before has it happened, and it has occurred only after Israel came back to her land as a nation. And, this prophecy fulfillment has occurred along with dozens of End Time prophecies, all occurring together!! This is our key point: all these prophecies are uniquely happening only today, after Israel became a nation again. Never before has the world seen such a unique convergence of prophetic events.

 

     Immediately after the Antichrist arises, three of the original 10 Super Nations are utterly destroyed. End of the Age accounts in Joel, chapters 2-3, and Revelation 18, speak of such national destruction, accompanied by huge columns of smoke and fire, where the entire nation is destroyed in one hour! Yet, this all-out war is preceded by constant promises of global "Peace and Safety." If you have been following the rhetoric accompanying discussions of this New World Order, you know that its advocates have been promoting it as the only way to achieve global "Peace and Safety."

 

     Again, prophetic Scripture is right on target. In Daniel 8:25, the Bible prophecies that "by peace [he] shall destroy many." This reorganization of the world's many nations into only 10 uniquely fulfills Biblical prophecy. The next prophetic event is the staged appearance of Antichrist, followed by all-out war in which 3 of the original 10 Super Nations are absolutely destroyed. Now, do you realize the exciting importance of NAFTA and NAU? It is a nation in the 10 Nation Reorganization Plan!

 

     The Bible is very clear that, when the prophetic countdown begins -- when Israel is restored to her land -- all these events will come to pass. There is nothing that anyone can do to prevent it, either by education or by force of arms. The only preparation you can have is to be in right standing with Jesus Christ, by being Born Again.
