Israel Backed By God's Promise
Then will the LORD drive out all these nations from before you, and ye shall possess greater nations and mightier than yourselves. Every place whereon the soles of your feet shall tread shall be yours: from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even unto the uttermost sea shall your coast be. There shall no man be able to stand before you...
God's promise to the Jews (Deut. 11:23-25).

Hassan Nasrallah, the secretary-general of Hezbollah rejects calls for the group to disarm [AFP]
Lebanon's newly formed national unity government has agreed on a policy statement that may allow Hezbollah to keep its weapons. The draft statement written on Friday agreed "on the right of Lebanon's people, the army and the resistance to liberate all its territories." The "resistance" is a common term for Hezbollah in Lebanon, pointing to its stance in the country as a movement dedicated to fighting Israeli occupation. The issue has been a point of disagreement, with many in Lebanon's Western-backed majority wanting to disarm Hezbollah - a demand the group rejects. The statement, agreed at the 14th meeting of a ministerial committee set up to draft it, will be presented to parliament next week for a vote of confidence. "The ministerial statement is drafted and forwarded to the cabinet with the agreement of all its members," said Tareq Mitri, the information minister, after the meeting.
The compromise came after more than three weeks of negotiations. The statement had been delayed by disagreements over the role of Hezbollah's army, which fought a 34-day war with Israel in 2006. Fouad Siniora, the Lebanese prime minister, wanted to exclude mentioning Hezbollah's right to regain Lebanese land by force and defer the subject to a national dialogue to be chaired by Michel Sleiman, the president. Hezbollah's weapons became an even more divisive issue after the group used them in street fighting in Beirut, the capital, in early May. Political sources said the statement renewed Lebanon's commitment to UN Security Council Resolution 1701 which ended the 2006 war and refers the fate of Hezbollah's weapons to the drafting of a "national defense strategy" to be agreed at the national dialogue meeting.
The Assassinated Syrian General Was In Charge Of Securing

DEBKAfile Exclusive Report

DEBKAfile’s intelligence sources report that Gen. Muhammad Suleiman, whom a sniper shot dead in the Syrian port town of Tartus early Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008 was a shadowy figure who acted for Bashar Assad in the regime’s four most sensitive and confidential spheres:
1. He was the president’s liaison man with the North Korean government. On his frequent trips to Pyongyang, Gen. Suleiman organized the consignment of components for the plutonium reactor in northern Syria, which Israeli demolished last September, and the security of the North Korean scientists and technicians who accompanied them.
2. Muhammad Suleiman was also the president’s private channel of communication with Iranian military and intelligence chiefs; in this capacity, he most probably facilitated the Syrian-Iranian-North Korean connection. The Syrian reactor was designed to produce nuclear fuel for the Iranian program and radioactive weapons for Syria.
3. The late general also acted as the president’s contact man with Hizballah’s leaders. He worked directly with Imad Mughniyeh, head of Hizballah’s security apparatus, who was killed in Damascus last February.
4. His key function was the management of Assad’s personal interaction with the Syrian chief of staff, generals and heads of military intelligence. There was no state secret from the powerful general. He was to have accompanied the Syrian president on his state visit to Tehran Saturday; instead he was laid to rest in his home village of Driekesh in the north.
Damascus has done its utmost to keep the general’s death under wraps, but word has spread and theories abound: Speculation ranges from an outside hand, or a jealous rival to an internal element who felt the concentration of so much power in one hand was a threat to the regime.
After Strategic Mt. Sannine, Hizballah Seizes Lebanese Mt. Barukh

After strategic Mt. Sannine, Hizballah seizes Lebanese Mt. Barukh
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report
http://debka.com/headline.php?hid=5476
Hizballah has moved on since its seizure of the towering Mount Sannine, the highest point of the Mount Lebanon range – which was first revealed by DEBKAfile. As Iranian and Syrian radar and anti-air weapons officers settled on the strategic peak, our military sources report the Lebanese terrorist group proceeded to grab positions on the Western ridge of Jebel Barukh, east of Jezzine, a move which brings it closer to the Israel border.
Perched atop Lebanon’s two tallest mountain peaks, Hizballah, Syria and Iran are able to control most of Israel’s air space to the south and the heartlands of Lebanon’s Christian centers, as well as Mediterranean coastal waters. Contrary to the picture presented by Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert to the Knesset foreign affairs and defense committee Monday, July 28 (“Hizballah leader Hassan Nasrallah is losing his self-confidence”), Hizballah is back in strength in the military enclaves circled (on a) map, where its war preparations proceed apace. These enclaves are off-limits to civilians. Scores of military bases have arisen around three main centers close to the Israeli border at Marjayun, Nabatiya and Hasbaya. Marked on the map are two lines of fortifications and large-scale concentrations of fighting strength:
1. One line is arrayed northwest of the Zahrani River to obstruct Israeli forces attempting to break through to Jebel Barukh and Mt. Sannine, as well as shielding the 10th and 14th Syrian armored divisions straddling the Syrian-Lebanese border opposite the Israeli positions on Mt. Hermon and Mt. Dov.
2. North-west of the first line, a long chain of positions is ranged across the breadth of South Lebanon, from Mt. Hermon in the east, up to Sidon on the Mediterranean coast to the west. It is there to block an Israeli advance on Hizballah-ruled Shiite centers.
Conclusion
God has promised the Jews the land of Canaan, from the Mediterranean Sea to the Euphrates River and from the southern desert to the northern lands of Lebanon (Deut. 11:23-25). Any group, nation, race of people, or army that stands in the way of God's promise will be defeated. Lebanon has been taken over by Iranian backed terrorists courtesy of the United Nations. Syria wants to invade and take back Israel's land in the Golan Heights. Iran wants to wipe Israel off the face of the map. Hezbollah, Fatah, and the Gazan terrorists will join in the battle. Any nation that helps Israel to defeat these enemies will be blessed by God. The mid-east is set to explode at any moment. This next war will be advantageous to the furtherance of the kingdom of the anti-Christ. This war will be an excuse for the price of oil to skyrocket. The US will spiral economically downward along with England. The purpose for this economic demise is to force England to accept the Euro and for the US to accept a common currency with Mexico and Canada. A North American Union will be formed.
Open thy doors, O Lebanon, that the fire may devour thy cedars. Howl, fir tree; for the cedar is fallen; because the mighty are spoiled: howl, O ye oaks of Bashan; for the forest of the vintage is come down. There is a voice of the howling of the shepherds; for their glory is spoiled: a voice of the roaring of young lions; for the pride of Jordan is spoiled. Thus saith the LORD my God; Feed the flock of the slaughter; Whose possessors slay them, and hold themselves not guilty.... (Zech. 11:1-5)
