3. How do the Old and New Testament fit together in a Christian's belief?
To the orthodox Jew the New Testament is not sacred scripture. To the Christian the Old Testament is prophecy and a picture of the New Testament. The New Testament is the fulfilling of the Old Testament prophecy. The OT (Old Testament) contains precepts and laws for both individuals and nations. The NT (New Testament) contains spiritual laws and precepts. The history in the OT is used by a Christian to teach spiritual truths as they line up with the truth of the NT. Christians believe the OT is just as much sacred scripture as the NT is. The OT unlocks spiritual truths and prophecy contained in the NT and vice versa. For example, a Christian cannot understand completely the book of Revelation without understanding the book of Daniel. The sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross is understood by the book of Exodus. The book of Ezekiel will be understood when the book of Revelation is understood. The book of Acts is understood when the feasts in the OT are studied.
