2. Is Islam in reality a peaceful religion?

Most Westerners believe that Islam is really a peaceful religion.  They think that a few Muslim radicals have given this religion a bad name. You need to study their book and see what they really believe.  By their fruits ye shall know them (Matt. 8:16).  The history of Islam reveals the true nature of this brutal religion which blossomed from its hateful writings.  Islam is a religion of hatred towards those who do not think as they do.  Christianity, true Christianity (not Roman Catholicism [remember the Crusades and "trial by fires?"]), is a belief of love towards mankind in support of repentance and salvation in Jesus Christ, regardless of a person's beliefs. If a person is afraid of losing the religion that they have in their heart, because they associate with other people of different faiths, then they do not have the real thing.  Real faith in a person's heart is permanent no matter what the conditions.  You do not have to hate or kill an infidel to maintain and impart your faith.  I have listed some of the most vehement lines in their book called the Quran.  I have listed them in order as they would appear in their book. A brief commentary comparing Muslim writings with the holy scriptures of the Bible accompanies each line of verse.

Chapter 3 "The Family of Imran"

ONE:  3.119: Lo! you are they who will love them while they do not love you, and you believe in the Book (in) the whole of it; and when they meet you they say: We believe, and when they are alone, they bite the ends of their fingers in rage against you. Say: Die in your rage; surely Allah knows what is in the breasts.

Muslim teaching says they are susceptible to hypocrites.  If a Muslim, who believes the Quran, befriends an infidel then watch out.  They say to your face that they are believers in the Quran.  But when they are alone the hypocrite is so enraged at their Muslim friend that they are biting their fingernails.  What does the Quran teach:  it is okay to want that person to die.  "Die in your rage..."

The holy Bible teaches that a person should not fellowship with unbelievers; it does not say you cannot be their friend in order to win them over to salvation.  The difference being; when your unbelieving friend wants you to come on over to their house and have a few beers with him a Christian won't go.  But if an unbelieving friend needs their car jumped,  and you know they have been saying bad things about you behind your back, instead of telling them to "die in your rage" a true Christian will help them out and give them a gospel tract.

TWO:  3.151: We will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve, because they set up with Allah that for which He has sent down no authority, and their abode is the fire, and evil is the abode of the unjust.

Muslim teaching says the unbelievers of Islam have something terrible coming to them in this life, and in the afterlife.  The reason for this is because the infidel has crossed paths with Allah and done things for which Allah has given them no authority to do.  The punishment in the afterlife is hell.  But, the Muslim's Quran teaches that a Muslim can "cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve."  A false religion will teach its members to commit acts of terror against unbelievers because they go against the teachings of their book.  Who is going to want to join, and be a part, of such a terrible religion?

The holy Bible teaches that an unbeliever who dies in their sin, without accepting Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, will go to hell after death.  The Bible does not teach that a Christian can "cast terror into the hearts" of unbelievers.  A Christian is to "cast the love of the true God into the hearts" of unbelievers.  God is love. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever shall believe in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  The Bible does not teach to evangelize through terror.  The Bible teaches to evangelize through the truth of the Gospel, true love, and kind deeds.  If a person claims to be following the true God and goes about spreading their religion, through other methods than what was just mentioned, then they are deceived and have the wrong beliefs.

THREE:  3.152: And certainly Allah made good to you His promise when you slew them by His permission, until when you became weak-hearted and disputed about the affair and disobeyed after He had shown you that which you loved...

The context here is the slaying of the unbeliever.  You know that is true because this is the very next verse, after the one we just studied, from the same chapter in the Quran.  The teaching is that Allah gives permission for Muslims to kill unbelievers for the reason we discussed in the previous verse.  And, the Muslim will be rewarded:  "Allah made good to you His promise when you slew them."

The holy Bible teaches no such brutality.  Thou shall not kill.  The only permission God authorizes for taking the life of another person is to the government.  And that is only if a person has taken the life of another person.  No individual has the right, according to God, to take the life of another.  Most certainly the holy Bible does not teach that a Christian can take the life of another person.  Especially if they are not a believer.  The true Book does not allow such hatred.

Chapter 4 "The Women."

FOUR:  4.77: Have you not seen those to whom it was said: Withhold your hands, and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate; but when fighting is prescribed for them, lo! a party of them fear men as they ought to have feared Allah, or (even) with a greater fear, and say: Our Lord! why hast Thou ordained fighting for us? Wherefore didst Thou not grant us a delay to a near end? Say: The provision of this world is short, and the hereafter is better for him who guards (against evil); and you shall not be wronged the husk of a date stone.

The Muslim Quran teaches that Allah has ordained fighting.  Why?  Because "The provision of this world is short, and the hereafter is better for him who guards (against evil)..."  That means Muslims are to guard against evil through fighting.  The context is clear.  A Muslim who fights against evil through battle will receive a reward in the afterlife.  If you only skim through the Quran you will find that two of the main evils towards Muslims are hypocrites and unbelieving infidels.

The holy Bible teaches that a true Christian's weapons of warfare are not carnal but spiritual.  Instead of chopping someone's head off because they preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a Muslim, the Bible teaches spiritual tactics.  If a Muslim were to try and evangelize a Christian the reaction would be totally different.  A true Christian does not use guns, machetes, pistols, swords, knives, and bombs when evangelizing unbelievers, guarding against evil, and eradicating false religions.  A true Christian does not need those carnal weapons.  A true Christian has the spiritual weapons of faith;  prayer, the holy Scriptures, the power of the Holy Spirit, and the truth.

FIVE:  4.83: And when there comes to them news of security or fear they spread it abroad; and if they had referred it to the Apostle and to those in authority among them, those among them who can search out the knowledge of it would have known it, and were it not for the grace of Allah upon you and His mercy, you would have certainly followed the Shaitan save a few.   4.84: Fight then in Allah's way; this is not imposed on you except In relation to yourself, and rouse the believers to ardor maybe Allah will restrain the fighting of those who disbelieve and Allah is strongest in prowess and strongest to give an exemplary punishment.

SIX:  4.88: What is the matter with you, then, that you have become two parties about the hypocrites, while Allah has made them return (to unbelief) for what they have earned? Do you wish to guide him whom Allah has caused to err? And whomsoever Allah causes to err, you shall by no means find a way for him. 4.89: They desire that you should disbelieve as they have disbelieved, so that you might be (all) alike; therefore take not from among them friends until they fly (their homes) in Allah's way; but if they turn back, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them, and take not from among them a friend or a helper.

SEVEN:  4.90: Except those who reach a people between whom and you there is an alliance, or who come to you, their hearts shrinking from fighting you or fighting their own people; and if Allah had pleased, He would have given them power over you, so that they should have certainly fought you; therefore if they withdraw from you and do not fight you and offer you peace, then Allah has not given you a way against them.   4.91: You will find others who desire that they should be safe from you and secure from their own people; as often as they are sent back to the mischief they get thrown into it headlong; therefore if they do not withdraw from you, and (do not) offer you peace and restrain their hands, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them; and against these We have given you a clear authority.

EIGHT:  4.94: O you who believe! when you go to war in Allah's way, make investigation, and do not say to any one who offers you peace: You are not a believer. Do you seek goods of this world's life! But with Allah there are abundant gains; you too were such before, then Allah conferred a benefit on you; therefore make investigation; surely Allah is aware of what you do.

NINE:  4.101: And when you journey in the earth, there is no blame on you if you shorten the prayer, if you fear that those who disbelieve will cause you distress, surely the unbelievers are your open enemy.

TEN:  4.104: And be not weak hearted in pursuit of the enemy; if you suffer pain, then surely they (too) suffer pain as you suffer pain, and you hope from Allah what they do not hope; and Allah is Knowing, Wise.

Chapter 5 "The Dinner Table"

ELEVEN:  5.51: O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people.

Chapter 9"The Immunity"

TWELVE:  9.5: So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

THIRTEEN:  9.12: And if they break their oaths after their agreement and (openly) revile your religion, then fight the leaders of unbelief -- surely their oaths are nothing -- so that they may desist.

FOURTEEN:  9.13: What! will you not fight a people who broke their oaths and aimed at the expulsion of the Apostle, and they attacked you first; do you fear them? But Allah is most deserving that you should fear Him, if you are believers.

FIFTEEN:  9.14: Fight them, Allah will punish them by your hands and bring them to disgrace, and assist you against them and heal the hearts of a believing people.

SIXTEEN:  9.15: And remove the rage of their hearts; and Allah turns (mercifully) to whom He pleases, and Allah is Knowing, Wise.

SEVENTEEN:  9.25: Certainly Allah helped you in many battlefields and on the day of Hunain, when your great numbers made you vain, but they availed you nothing and the earth became strait to you notwithstanding its spaciousness, then you turned back retreating.

EIGHTEEN:  9.26: Then Allah sent down His tranquility upon His Apostle and upon the believers, and sent down hosts which you did not see, and chastised those who disbelieved, and that is the reward of the unbelievers.

NINETEEN:  9.29: Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Apostle have prohibited, nor follow the religion of truth, out of those who have been given the Book, until they pay the tax in acknowledgment of superiority and they are in a state of subjection.

TWENTY:  9.33: He it is Who sent His Apostle with guidance and the religion of truth, that He might cause it to prevail over all religions, though the polytheists may be averse.
